ONTOLOGY

An ongoing series of mixed media work exploring the thoughts, questions, and experiences of existing that elude complete comprehension. Questions we pose to the phenomena we know to be real yet are denied our full grasp of understanding. These works function for me not as answers to these questions but rather as a way to coalesce the inexplicable into a form I may more easily begin to digest, a mental resting point.

This series is built upon a thought mode rather than a medium. Ultimately the final works are digital in nature but they’re assembled through a combined process of hand drawn images on paper and vector based construction. This method allows for maximum fluidity in how I find, alter, compose, and edit the constituent parts of piece in order to focus strictly on the postulation forming along the way. This then allows me to alter the focus and labor from technical skill and material execution to largely focus on the cognitive part of the process.
